KUCHING, May 22: Sarawak has proposed for the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) to be held from Aug 17 to 24 next year.

However, the dates are subjected to the approval of the Sukma Supreme Committee.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah announced this when presenting his ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today.

He also mentioned that Sukma 2024 would be held in various parts of Sarawak.

“Eight divisions, namely Kuching, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu and Miri have been identified and proposed to host the 32 sporting events.

“This is after taking into consideration the venues and facilities, as well as the accommodation, logistic, transportation and the local community support for chosen sports.

“Indirectly, this will boost the local economy with the spill-over of tourist receipts,” he said. — DayakDaily
