SIBU, Nov 30: The state police force will not request for extra manpower from other contingents for the general election.

Sarawak Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Fisol Salleh revealed they have sufficient manpower for the election, during a press conference during his visit to the Sibu police headquarters here today.

“We are not seeking for extra manpower from other contingents for the election. Just like (for) the Covid-19 pandemic, we are using our own personnel. When we look at our manpower, if we are really unable to cope, we still have the marine police, General Operations Force, Rela (People’s Volunteer Corps), police training institute and auxiliary police, so this is not a problem for us,” he said.

His visit today is part of his visits to police stations statewide to oversee preparations for the general election.

“The election can be at anytime. Our preparation is not a problem as we have prepared early for it,” he added.

After Sibu, Fisol is scheduled to visit police stations in Bintulu and Miri.

“This is my first visit (stop) after Kuching. The purpose of my visit is to look at our preparation for the election and to see to it that our RMCO (Recovery Movement Control Order) monitoring team is functioning well. Overall, I am happy with our SOP (standard operating procedure),” he said. — DayakDaily
