KUCHING, Dec 12: A 58-year-old sub-contractor was arrested by the police for attempting to rape his step-granddaughter.
Padawan district police chief Superintendent Aidil Bolhassan in a statement revealed a police report was lodged at the Batu Kawah police station by the 14-year old victim on Wednesday at 6.12pm accompanied by her parent.
The victim claimed to have been in the living room at home with her younger sibling at about 3pm, when the suspect, who worked as a sub-contractor, tried to make conversation with the victim after coming home but was ignored by the victim.
“After a while, the suspect came back and covered the victim’s mouth with his left arm and mounted himself on top of the victim, before removing the victim’s shirt.
“Struggling to release herself, the victim however managed to bite the suspect’s left arm until she was released,” Aidil disclosed.
The suspect was arrested under the Section 14(1)(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 to facilitate investigation. — DayakDaily
