MIRI, July 20: Several trees were toppled by strong winds on Friday night (July 19), causing disruptions in various parts of the city.
In one incident, firefighters were called to remove a fallen tree in the middle of the road.
According to Lutong Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Chief Henry Jugah, members of the department arrived at the scene to find a tree blocking the road, as reported.
After assessing the situation, five firefighters used a chainsaw to cut and remove the tree.
The operation, which took place at Lane 1-5, Lot 7563-1-15, Banar Baru Permyjaya, began following an emergency call at 9.03pm and lasted less than 20 minutes.
Meanwhile, in another part of the city, a team from the Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) was also busy removing a fallen tree from the middle of the road at Lorong 15, Taman Ceria Permyjaya.
Upon receiving the report, the team was immediately dispatched to the scene.
The operation took nearly an hour to complete, but fortunately, no injuries were reported. — DayakDaily
