Stringing works for Marudi Junction–Bunut 275kV Transmission Line Project begins tomorrow (April 20)

Stringing works to connect these transmission towers will be completed soon.

KUCHING, April 19: The Marudi Junction–Bunut 275kV Transmission Line Project, which is part of the Northern Grid Extension power infrastructure project to connect Limbang and Lawas Region to the main power grid, is progressing steadily with transmission line stringing works to connect towers starting tomorrow (April 20).

According to a press release issued by Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sarawak Energy) today, the stringing works are expected to be completed by the third week of May 2022.

The transmission line will also serve as a supply source for Bunut, Ulu Baram, Bario, Bakelalan, Long Lama, Mulu and Tinjar.

“This project is part of Sarawak Energy’s ongoing efforts to modernise Sarawak’s power system and provide affordable and reliable electricity supply for the people,” it said.

It also added that a project team had installed insulated netting crossing above the Marudi 33kV distribution line as a safety measure today prior to the stringing works.

“Electricity supply to Marudi Town is expected to be unaffected throughout the insulated netting installation works. Nevertheless, preparations are being made to ensure the safe completion of works in the shortest time possible.

“The team has also adopted preventive measures, including deploying three portable generator sets to Marudi Town as a standby for supplying critical services if required.

“In the event of bad weather, works may be postponed for safety reasons.”
