KOTA SAMARAHAN, Jan 2: The “gelap gelita” (pitch-black) road along the Samarahan Bridge up to its exit junction near Kampung Tambay now has street lighting.

This comes as part of the installation of 600 street lamps under the Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Agency (IRSDA) along the road stretch from Tambey to Sampun.

Kota Samarahan MP Datuk Rubiah Wang said the the road lighting will continue up to Asajaya district.

“God willing, with the completion of the project, it will provide comfort and safety to road users, especially those who commute from work at night.

“Hopefully this project will go smoothly and be completed on schedule,” she said in a Facebook post on Dec 31 (Saturday) after an site inspection during a work visit with Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Felcra).

The first two phases of the project which cost RM23 million would involve the installation of nearly 3,800 lamp posts along the stretch which starts from Stakan and extends to Muara Tuang, Asajaya, Sadong Jaya, Simunjan, Gedong and Sebuyau constituencies.

The third or final phase estimated to cost RM7 million will cover the installation of over 3,000 lamp posts at access roads to the villages in all the constituencies. — DayakDaily
