KUCHING, Jan 20: The Sessions Court here sentenced a self-employed stepfather to fifteen years jail and nine strokes of the rotan for raping his underaged stepdaughter.
The 29-year-old accused from Kampung Sejijak pleaded guilty before Sessions Court Judge Jason Juga today.
Jason accepted his plea of guilt and convicted him as charged.
The stepfather was found guilty of committing incest against his underaged stepdaughter at a house in Jalan Astana, between 8am to 9am, on November 6, 2019.
He was charged under Section 376B(1) of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term between ten to thirty years as well as whipping.
According to the brief facts of the case, it was the victim’s aunt who brought the victim for a medical check-up at the Sarawak General Hospital and a medical officer there lodged the police report.
Based on the investigation by the police, it was found that the accused started to commit incest on the victim since she was 12 years old. She is now aged 15.
