KUCHING, Oct 14: This year’s state-level Women’s Day celebration themed “Ekspresi Tinta Wanita” (Women Expression in Writing) will be held on Nov 23, following the launch of a book titled “Women in Scholarly Writing” on Nov 20 at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
Both events are organised by the Women and Family Department (JWKS) with the launch of the book as a prelude to its highlight — the launch proper of Women’s Day Celebration three days later.
Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah in a press conference today said this year’s State-level celebration would be different from previous years as the two events which used to be held in the same event, will be held separately this year.
On the Women’s Day celebration, she said this was an annual event organised with the objective to show appreciation to the women of Sarawak for their achievements as well as contributions.
This year’s theme “Ekspresi Tinta Wanita” was chosen in line with the book titled “Sarawak Women in Scholarly Writing”, published by JWKS.
The launch of the book will be held on Nov 20, 3pm at BCCK with Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib as the guest-of-honour while the Statewide Women’s Day Celebration will be held on Nov 23, at 10am where the guests-of-honour are Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.
It will be a hybrid event where 200 are expected to attend in person while Sarawakians from 40 districts across Sarawak are expected to participate through Zoom and livestreaming. — DayakDaily
