KUCHING, Sept 6: The state government has decided to scale down the official birthday celebration of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V.
This was in view of the cancellation of the birthday ceremony and the Royal High Tea reception on Sept 9 at lstana Negara by His Majesty.
As such, the high tea ceremony and the “Raja Kita” exhibition to be held at a leading hotel in Sri Aman on Sept 9 will be cancelled, said the State Secretary’s Office in a press statement this morning.
However, the “Majlis Kesyukuran” (Thanksgiving Ceremony) which was scheduled to be held on Sept 8 at Masjid Bandar Sri Aman would proceed as planned.
“On Thursday, a statement from the Istana Negara had informed about the concellatiom of the birthday celebration and the Royal Tea reception by the King.
“This year, Sri Aman has been selected as the host for the state level Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s birthday celebration.” — DayakDaily
