KUCHING, July 30: The State Health Department has gazetted the interzone movement order today to control the movement of citizens from one zone to another.

Its director Dr Chin Zin Hing said this is to allow the police to monitor the movement of the citizens between different zones as part of measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, particularly Covid-19, in Sarawak.

“The State Health Department has taken steps to control the movements of citizens within Sarawak as part of measures to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases.

“Therefore, we have made some amendments to the law and gazetted it.

“A citizen can move within any zone from one place to another in Sarawak.

“(However), no one can move from one zone to another zone without getting the written approval from the police at the nearest police station,” he said when announcing the new rules at the former State Legislative Assembly building here today.

He said there are two zones, Zone One and Two. Zone One comprises Kuching, Samarahan and Serian districts while Zone Two comprises Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Kapit, Mukah, Miri and Limbang districts. — DayakDaily
