State govt to host seven events in conjunction with Sarawak Day celebration

KUCHING, July 11: The highlight of the Sarawak Day celebration will be the Sarawak Day Rally on the morning of July 22 at the Old Airport Road, Bintulu which is expected to be graced by Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

A total of of seven events is being organised by the Sarawak government to mark the occasion which will begin from July 20 to 22 at various venues.

The main organising committee members of the Sarawak Day 2019 celebration paid a courtesy call on Taib at the Astana here recently.

Leading the delegation was Minister of Utilities, Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom, who is also the minister-in-charge of the event.

The visit was to formally invite the Governor to grace the Sarawak Day do to be centred in Bintulu on July 22.

Others in the delegation were Assistant Ministers Datuk John Sikie Tayai, Datuk Liwan Lagang, Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail and Dr Annuar Rafa’ee.

Also present were Protocol and Event Management Unit (Chief Minister’s Department) director Azlan Abdul Badri, Bintulu Resident Jack Aman Luat, chief executive officers of Pustaka Negeri and Sarawak Arts Council Rashidah Bolhassan and Sharkawi Amit, and Ustaz Khalidi Ibrahim from the State Islamic Department. — DayakDaily
