MIRI, May 11: In a compassionate gesture, the State government has arranged for a Hornbill Skyways helicopter to transport 91-year-old Tagal Paran, father of the late Datuk Mutang Tagal, and other family members from Ba’kalalan to attend the funeral proceedings.
Deputy Minister in the Premier of Sarawak’s Department (Labour, Immigration, and Project Monitoring), Datuk Gerawat Gala, disclosed this during a meeting convened to plan the solemn farewell for Datuk Mutang Tagal at the Miri Resident office on Saturday.
“The helicopter, scheduled to depart from Ba’kalalan this afternoon (May 11), will undertake approximately an hour-long journey to reach Miri,” Gerawat stated.
The remains of Datuk Mutang Tagal are expected to arrive from Kuala Lumpur on Sunday morning, landing at Miri airport around 10am.
The casket will then be respectfully conveyed to the Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) Church on Jalan Airport, providing an opportunity for friends, family, and well-wishers to bid their final farewells.
A poignant tribute ceremony is slated to be held at the Canada Hill BEM Church in Miri, commemorating the life and contributions of Datuk Mutang Tagal.
On May 13, the formal funeral service will be conducted at the BEM Canada Hill Church, with the casket arriving at 10.20am.
Gollowing the service, a procession will proceed to the Golden Hill Memorial Park burial ground, where he will be laid to rest at 12.30pm.
The late Datuk Mutang, a former Senate president, passed away at the age of 70, shortly after being hospitalised at the National Heart Institute Kuala Lumpur (IJN) since May 6.
