MIRI, Oct 27: The state government through the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) is taking a number of proactive measures to contain and control the transmission of Covid-19 in Kampung Haji Baki in Kuching.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg noted that the number of positive Covid-19 cases was on the rise over the past two days, especially for cases from Kampung Haji Baki.

“Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah (SDMC chairman) is now in discussion with the National Security Council (MKN) through Zoom (video conferencing).

“We will take a few measures to contain the transmission of Covid-19 in Sarawak.

“Recently, there were cases emerging from Kg Haji Baki. The cases were imported.

“Thus, in Sarawak we will protect the public health through measures implemented by the state government with the assistance from the federal government,” he said in his speech when officiating at the earth-breaking ceremony for a new building at Miri Hospital here today.
