MIRI, March 9: The state government never chooses when it comes to the rakyat’s welfare, asserted Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) secretary-general Datuk Sebastian Ting.

“Kita tidak pilih (We never choose) whether they have or have not voted for us. The rakyat is our main priority,” he replied to a question on Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH).

Ting said although BSH was a federal government initiative, the state government would not bother who the initiator was because its main concern was the rakyat’s well-being and to serve them well.

Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting (standing far behind, clad in white shirt), monitoring the registration process.

Ting, who is Piasau assemblyman, was met at Kampung Pasir in Lutong today. SUPP Piasau was there from 2pm to 4pm to assist the residents there update/apply for BSH.

Villager Tanjau Machau, 61, thanked SUPP for providing the service.

“I am grateful to SUPP for providing this service as I neither have a car nor other transport to go to the city centre to register for BSH,” she said.

Sharing the same sentiment were Achu Pampang, in her 70s, and Jennifer Chai Merikan, 33. The three of them were past recipients of BRIM.— DayakDaily
