State embarks on 30-year master plan to transform agriculture sector, rural economy

KUCHING, Aug 30: The state government is carrying out a study to transform the agriculture sector and rural economy in Sarawak within the next 30 years.

A two-day workshop of the said study — Master Plan for Agriculture and Rural Economy in Sarawak for 2018-2050 — was held here today, jointly organised by the State Planning Unit and Ministry of Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development.

“The main objective of the workshop was to deliberate on the key strategies to transform the agriculture sector and rural economy in Sarawak,” said the organising agency in a media statement.


The workshop, attended by 100 participants from both the public and private sectors, was officially closed by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Assistant Minister of Native Land Development Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Assistant Minister of Agriculture Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail and Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta were among those present at the workshop. — DayakDaily
