KUCHING, Nov 6: State Budget 2019 is “a light at the end of the tunnel for Sarawak’s rural community”, so says Munan Laja, president of Sarawak Workers Party (SWP), today.
He noted that it was a record budget, and a big portion of it was allocated for rural development.
“SWP, being a rural-based party, fully supports this budget. It is a light at the end of the tunnel for Sarawak rural community.
“In this budget, the agriculture sector is given RM315 million for the development of agriculture. I hope there is a consideration to give farm roads to rural longhouses to open up their land,” he said in a press statement.
Munan added that his party was also appreciative that there was an allocation for Native Customary Rights (NCR) land survey. He hoped the state government would consider those NCR land that had already been perimeter surveyed several years to be surveyed individually under Section 18.
“SWP is okay with the budget,” he said. — DayakDaily
