KUCHING, April 10: Sarawak Workers Party (SWP) has warned the federal government against uplifting the movement control order (MCO), which could pose risk to the whole nation due to the increase in Covid-19 cases.

Its acting deputy president David Munan said the MCO must not be uplifted at this point of time, as the conditions was still unfavourable with new positive cases and deaths from Covid-19 reported daily.

“Uplifting the MCO now is putting the nation in great danger, as the authorities earlier predicted that in mid April, the number is going to rise. SWP see no reason at all to uplift the MCO,” he said in a statement.

David added that the federal government has done a good job in handling the Covid-19 outbreak. With the virus outbreak not diminishing anytime soon and considering the upcoming Hari Raya and Gawai celebration, the fight (including the MCO) must continue.

“Malaysians of all races must stop Covid-19 from further taking the lives of our love ones, stay at home and cooperate with the authorities in combating the spread of the pandemic. It’s like fire, we should control it when it is still small,” he continued. — DayakDaily
