KUCHING, Nov 21: State Reform Party (Star) president Lina Soo says her party would continue to play the role of “opposition” to both Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) and Sarawak Pakatan Harapan (PH).
She reasoned that Star’s aspiration was self-determination, where Sarawakians determine their own future.
“In the meantime, Star will play its role as an effective opposition to both GPS and Pakatan and provide the check and balance.
“Our political aspiration is always for self-determination, where the people of Sarawak must have the political will to decide our own political, cultural and economic future.
“The destiny of Sarawak lies in the hands of the rakyat, where they have the right to choose the government of their choice to reflect their own desire and aspiration, not just follow political parties blindly,” she said in a statement today.
She urged voters to choose wisely in the next state election, which is due in 2021, to safeguard the state’s rights.
“Voters must choose wisely in PRN12 to safeguard and protect Sarawak,” she said.
On Sarawak Baru, which is a local pact comprising Star, Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru (PBDSB) and Sarawak Workers Party (SWP), Soo said the party leaders would meet to decide on the coalition’s direction.
Meanwhile, Soo took the opportunity to congratulate GPS on their success in obtaining the approval from the Home Ministry to become a registered pact.
She hoped GPS would live up to the expectations of the people. — DayakDaily
