KUCHING, Sept 25: Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen obtained RM500,000 funding from Federal Ministry of Local Government and Housing to upgrade streetlights within the constituency.
According to Chong, who is also Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman, the fund will be channelled through his Stampin (P.196) Service Centre.
“This additional RM500,000 is for packages of projects not more than RM50,000 each, for the upgrading of streetlights,” he said in a statement today.
In the same statement, Chong also said they have forwarded a letter to Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) to identify areas in need of streetlight upgrades.
He also said that once the areas are identified and agreed upon by his office, the funding will be channeled to the local council for implementation.
He added that the projects need to be identified and submitted to the Ministry of Local Government and Housing on or before Oct 3 to allow the funding to be channeled to the council and for the projects to be carried out before end of the year. — DayakDaily
