KUCHING, Dec 2: The holiday cheer is about to get a whole lot furrier as the Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) gears up for its much-loved SSPCA Charity Christmas Bazaar 2025.

According to a press release by the SSPCA, the bazaar will take place on December 7, 2025 (Sunday), from 10am to 2pm at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Dewan Masyarakat, New Wing, Jalan Padungan. Admission is free.

As always, visitors can expect a joyful mix of festive goodies, from signature Christmas cookies and cakes to handmade crafts, local delicacies, and charming knick-knacks from participating vendors.

Every purchase goes straight back into supporting SSPCA’s animal welfare programmes, making each treat a tiny act of kindness.

But the Bazaar isn’t just about shopping and snacking. This year marks the opening of registration for PetWalk 2.0, which will take place in 2026.

Pet owners can also look forward to free rabies vaccinations for their dogs during the MBKS Vaccination Campaign with Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak (DVSS) in February 2026, ensuring more families and pets stay protected.

Of course, no SSPCA event is complete without the stars of the show: the adorable cats and dogs hoping for a second chance at a loving forever home.

With Christmas around the corner, SSPCA hopes a few lucky fur-kids will find new families to celebrate with.

SSPCA President Datin Sri Dona Drury Wee said the Christmas Bazaar remains a heartfelt tradition for the organisation.

“Beyond fundraising, it is a platform to remind the public about Rabies awareness, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of keeping our communities safe.

“We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the season while supporting a cause that protects both animals and people,” read the statement.

This year’s Bazaar will be graced by Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian, reinforcing the State’s ongoing commitment to public health, responsible pet ownership, and continual rabies prevention.

The annual event continues to shine a light on rabies awareness, emphasising timely vaccinations, yearly boosters, and safer interactions between pets and the community.

Families, animal lovers, and the wider Sarawak public are warmly invited to spend their Sunday spreading compassion, supporting shelter animals, registering for PetWalk 2.0, and helping strengthen community-wide rabies prevention. — DayakDaily
