Sri Aman: PRS Women chief beats Independent incumbent Masir with 14,131 votes in GE15

KUCHING, Nov 19: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Women chief Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie has defeated P202 Sri Aman incumbent Dato Masir Kujat to win the seat for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Doris secured 14,131 votes with a majority of 4,039 against Independent Masir (5,673), Wilson Esabang (PSB) with 10,092 votes, and Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Tay Wei Wei (2,021).


There are 50,164 registered voters in the Sri Aman constituency.

In the 14th General Election (GE14), Masir won the parliamentary seat under the BN-PRS ticket, garnering 14,141 votes over Norina Umoi Utot (PH-PKR) and the late Cobbold Lusoi of PBDS (Baru), who managed to get 538 votes.

Masir then resigned from PRS and joined PSB in 2019. After the 2021 State Election, he resigned from PSB and became an Independent parliamentarian. — DayakDaily
