SIMANGGANG, Sept 22: The construction of Sri Aman Hospital II has reached 94 per cent completion.
Assistant Minister of Community Wellbeing Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said presently the main work is focused on installation of specialist equipment.
He added that the contractor must ensure the construction work can be completed according to schedule, according to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).
“I also urge contractors to clean up construction waste that is still scattered in the outdoor areas so that the construction environment is seen to be ready for the final construction work,” he said during a visit to the hospital on Monday (Sept 20).
Francis, who is also the Simanggang assemblyman, said he had wanted to witness the progress of the hospital’s construction in person.
The RM200 million Sri Aman Hospital project has been well known to be a “sick project”. It was announced 14 years ago but has since missed several deadlines.
In January 2019, the hospital was only at 40 per cent completion following issues with materials and workers faced by the contractors. The new completion date was thus pushed forward to 2020.
There have been no new updates of the project until this day. — DayakDaily
