SRDC urges patrons to adhere to social distancing

Council staff reinstalls the barricade tape at its Pasar Tamu.

SIBU, May 24: Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) has to re-install barricade tape around its Pasar Tamu as irresponsible people had removed it.

The council in a statement said the tape was put up for traders and the public to abide by the standard operating procedure (SOP) during this Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period, especially to promote social distancing.

However the tape was found missing on May 22.

“The Pasar Tamu was closed since MCO was enforced on March 18 until now so as to control the entry and exit points and for the convenience of taking body temperature of the patrons and the registration of their particulars,” it said.

The re-installation of the barricade tape, it added was done in accordance with the SOP set by the State Disaster Management Committee to restart the economy.

“We have also communicate with the traders so that they will abide to the guidelines in the SOP implemented to flatten the Covid-19 pandemic,” it said.

The council urged patrons of Sibujaya and Selangau Pasar Tamu  to cooperate by reporting to it should they come across people not following the SOP which happened from 8am to 5pm daily.

They can contact the council at telephone number 084-336077 or its chief enforcement officer, David Huong at  016-8734145. -DayakDaily
