Sporting events allowed under Phase 4 of NRP, subject to approval from Youth and Sports Ministry

KUCHING, Jan 3: The hosting of sporting events such as triathlons, open water swimming, marathons, trail runs, and obstacle runs are allowed under Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) in Sarawak, subject to approval from the Sarawak Youth and Sports Ministry.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in the updated standard operating procedures (SOP) for Phase 4 of the NRP for Sarawak released today, said only individuals who have been fully vaccinated could participate in such sporting events subject to maximum participation of 350 people at any one time.

The number of crowds or spectators attending the event is subject to 50 per cent capacity of the sports venue or 20,000 people, whichever is lower and limited to those who have been fully vaccinated.

Children under 18 years old who have not been fully vaccinated cannot enter the sports complex.

SDMC added that non-contact sports and other recreational activities for the public is allowed subject to individuals who have been fully vaccinated.

Recreational parks are permitted to operate according to the sports and recreational SOP issued by the Youth and Sports Ministry. — DayakDaily
