Spate of house break-ins, vehicle theft cases believed solved with 3 arrests

KUCHING, Oct 16: A series of house break-ins in Kuching, Padawan and Kota Samarahan over the past month is believed to be solved following three arrests yesterday.

Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief SAC Denis Leong said the three male suspects, aged between 33 to 42-years-old, were nabbed in a special combined operation between the CID team from IPK Sarawak, IPD Kuching, IPD Padawan and IPD Kota Samarahan along the Kuching/Serian Road for allegedly involvement in vehicle theft.

Various items believed to be used for house break-ins and stealing vehicles were seized by the police.

“Investigation at this stage revealed that those arrested were involved in several house break-in and vehicle theft cases in Kuching, Padawan and Kota Samarahan.

“We believe that with these arrests, we have solved about 40 house break-in cases and 30 vehicle theft cases,” Leong said.

Police also seized two vehicles, several car keys for various vehicle models, several car remote alarm control devices, several mobile phones and various tools believed to be used for house break-ins and stealing vehicles. — DayakDaily
