Song man feared missing, SAR to be conducted tomorrow

KUCHING, Nov 30: A 59-year-old man from Song is reported missing after failing to return home from grocery shopping, since last Saturday (Nov 28).

The State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre, in a statement today, said they received a call from Song police station at 7.58 pm today.

Three firefighters from Song fire station, led by PB Abg Fadzil were dispatched to the police station to get more information regarding the incident.


“Based on the initial information, the victim is believed to have fallen from his boat into Katibas River when he went out to buy necessities at a local store across the river,” it said.

According to the statement, the victim’s boat was found by the local folks drifting nearby the Katibas River bridge, and had informed the victim’s family members regarding the find.

“Following that, a missing person report was made by the victim’s family members today, and the Search and Rescue (SAR) will be carried out tomorrow (Dec 1) together with the police and local villagers,” the statement added. –DayakDaily.
