MIRI, March 28: An elderly man was found dead with his face down in the bushes at Senadin, here, this morning.

The discovery was made by the deceased’s son at around 8am.

“His body was found at about 2km from his house,” Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said when contacted.

A team of police officers were rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call from the son.

“Initial investigation revealed that the deceased had gone out for a fishing trip at his favourite spot located at about 2km from his house in Senadin on Friday morning,” he added.

The deceased failed to return home this morning, prompting his family to lodge a missing person report.

“He may have faced health problems and died inside the bushes,” said Lim.

The body was sent for an autopsy at Miri Hospital.
