KUCHING, May 14: Other Malaysian states undeniably have their own achievements but Sarawak is in a different league as it has success in new initiatives and ideas, says Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He stressed that he has no intention on playing favorites but he could not deny that Sarawak has made remarkable discoveries and achievements which make the people proud to be Malaysians.

“I scrutinise the development of all states where Selangor has recorded success in its particular field, Penang also have (achievements), Pahang also have (achievements); yes, I am not denying them, but (Sarawak is successful) in new initiatives and ideas.

“This is because the Sarawak government is stable, strong and has disciplined leaders, therefore there are new ideas in Sarawak that can make us proud as Malaysians,” he said when speaking at Unity Government National Convention 2023 held at WTC Kuala Lumpur today.

He also described Sarawak’s performance as “extraordinary” as the region under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg explores new technological and digital fields.

“Abang Jo, I complain because sometimes Sarawak is more advanced than the federal government. This is the truth.

“Meaning if the government is stable where the leaders are adopting an open approach, willing to listen and learn, and not arrogant and conceited, that will develop the nation and it would not be disturbed by ways to determine how to give oil contracts to their children and digital contracts to their children-in-laws.

“The country will go bankrupt if we leave it be. Thus, I wish to highlight that the federal Cabinet is very strong as there has been no reports so far relating to unity government leaders in such activity (nepotism),” he added. — DayakDaily
