KUCHING, Aug 30: What was supposed to be a joyous occasion grew sombre for a moment during the scroll presentation for the late Adrian Prakasa during Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus’ (Swinburne Sarawak) graduation ceremony here today.

The ceremony, which took place at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here, saw attendees standing in silence as the late Adrian’s elder brother, Agung Saputra, walked up on stage to receive the scroll on his behalf.

The award was presented by Swinburne University of Technology vice-chancellor and president Professor Pascale Quester and witnessed by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The late Adrian, from Jakarta, Indonesia, graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Robotics and Mechatronics).

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, the 34-year-old Agung expressed pride over his brother’s achievement.

“I am very proud of his achievement. (I am) also honoured to be here to finish what he started,” he said.

He also mentioned that he came to attend the ceremony with their father.

When asked about the passing of the late Adrian, Agung refused to comment and only mentioned that the 22-year-old Adrian had passed away in January this year. – DayakDaily
