KUCHING, Aug 20: Artificial intelligence (AI) is moving beyond proof-of-concept demonstrations and into real-world business applications, as SOCOE showcased how live enterprise data can be transformed into AI-powered data products at the Snowflake World Tour Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday (Aug 18) at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur.

SOCOE Data Department representative Elijah Frankie said the showcase stood apart from conventional AI demonstrations by using live production data and actual business use cases, rather than synthetic datasets or sandbox environments, to illustrate the complete lifecycle of developing and sharing data products.

“When it comes to Data Products, governance and trust matter more than the model itself. That is why it is important to demonstrate these capabilities using live production data rather than a sandbox demo,” he said in a media release today.

SOCOE’s presentation focused on the practical implementation of AI, demonstrating how a trusted and well-governed data foundation can be transformed into packaged, shareable Data Products that can be utilised by both business users and AI agents.

Held under the theme “Making AI Real for Business”, the Kuala Lumpur edition formed part of Snowflake’s global World Tour, which spans more than 20 cities and brings together data and AI leaders, practitioners and technology partners from around the world.

The presentation underscored the growing importance of trusted, well-governed data as organisations accelerate the adoption of AI technologies and seek to deploy enterprise-ready AI solutions.

SOCOE’s participation also positioned the Sarawak-based company among industry practitioners demonstrating how Malaysian enterprises can operationalise AI and unlock value from their data assets.

The company said its involvement aligns with a broader growth strategy aimed at providing its engineers with exposure to regional platforms while cultivating a new generation of Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs).

Rather than limiting regional representation to senior executives, SOCOE said it actively empowers its engineers to lead client-facing engagements and showcase their expertise before regional and international audiences.

The latest showcase adds to SOCOE’s growing list of regional achievements. The company became the first Sarawakian firm to receive the Asia Pacific Enterprise Awards’ Fast Enterprise Award in 2020 and the first Sarawak-based recipient of the London Design Awards in 2022. – DayakDaily
