The IUC Connect Series, a brainchild of the Swinburne School of Research, serves as a platform to formalize Swinburne’s connections and commitment to the community and industry.

According to Executive Dean of Research Professor Ida Fatimawati Adi Badiozaman, there is a disparity between research conducted by industry and that by academics and students in universities.

“This may be due to the unique needs and goals of these respective parties,” she said in a statement today.

Effective collaboration is needed in this case, as academia and industry collaboratively have the potential to boost the economy and ensure its growth, she added.

The IUC Connect Series has the overall objective of bridging industry, community, and academia through research.

Through a series of talks that will be organized throughout the year, Swinburne Sarawak hopes it can promote and maximize the outcome of research collaborations between industry, community, and academia, strengthen relationships and formalize commitments through MOAs /MOUs, and consultancy, and identify industry and community-based problems and how research can fill this void.

Audiences will be able to gain insights and knowledge of projects that guests from the industry and community will share during the talk.

Through IUC, and the sharing sessions by guests, Swinburne’s research centers will then identify project areas and subsequently propose collaborative partnerships with concerned stakeholders. — DayakDaily
