Snowdan: PRS’ legal advisors consulted before decision taken to expel Entulu

KUCHING, April 29: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) youth chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan says the party’s legal advisors were consulted before the party took the drastic step to expel its former deputy president Datuk Joseph Entulu Belaun and four others.

The action was taken last Sunday evening (April 22) during a special meeting of its Supreme Council (SC) where along with Entulu, four others including former Lubok Antu MP Datuk William Nyalau Badak, supreme council members Edward Kurik, Nyempah Sabot and Adriana Chumang Nyambong were also expelled from the party.

Snowdan who is also the party vice-president and the Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports said Entulu’s statement on challenging the decision in court only served to show the latter’s lack of knowledge in the party’s constitution.

“Its only shows that the former (Entulu) has limited knowledge on the party constitution if he proceeds to challenge the legality of the decision.

“I concur with party president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing that the party’s legal advisors have done the necessary to ensure the action taken was in accordance with the party constitution.

“His expulsion through the Special Taskforce committee is a valid act based on Article 8 Clause 22 (m) (i) to appoint special committee of committees to deal with specific matters in permanent or an ad hoc basis as committee of committees may seem necessary or expedient, and sub-Section (V) to do all such acts of things that may be necessary for the well-being and in the interest of the party.

“The act of expulsion can be carried out on members when they commit any acts or breach any rules such as disrupts or attempts to disrupt solidarity, unity and functioning of the party and commits any overt act or displays in form of publication or printing or writing, any intention to do bodily or physical harm to any leader, official or member of the party, or causes in any way harm directly or indirectly to any leader or member of the arty.

“By refusing to abide by the party’s decision on the candidate list and disobeying the party decision, Datuk Joseph Entulu and four others clearly committed a breach of the party constitution and their action is also tantamount to the serious insubordination against the party.”

He said that was stated in Article V (1) and (2) in the constitution which is superseded by Article VIII Clause 22(m)(i) and (v).

“Therefore the PRS Youth movement fully supports the president and its Supreme Council Members’ action in the expulsion of the five members.” — DayakDaily
