KUCHING, Dec 26: In an unexpected twist Julau MP Larry Sng has reversed his decision to step down as Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak chairman.

In a Facebook posting today, Sng said he shall remain as PKR Sarawak chairman in the interim while continues to lead the political party into the 12th State Election (PRN12) which is due by June 2021.

Sng explained that he agreed to hold the post after discussions with PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday.

ā€œOur discussions touched on suitable Dayak leaders in Keadilan Sarawak, Keadilan Sarawakā€™s autonomy, framework on the selection of candidates for election and our position on working with parties outside of Pakatan Harapan (PH).

ā€œWe managed to reach an understanding and I shall remain as chairman for the interim.

ā€œI appreciate the support and full confidence that the president and Keadilan Sarawak has given me to lead them in the coming state elections,ā€ he said.

Five days ago (Dec 21), Sng in a Facebook posting said he was stepping down as PKR Sarawak chief to allow a Dayak to lead the party.

He explained that his resignation was done in the best interest of PKR Sarawak as well as for the Dayak community which was underrepresented in the top leadership. ā€” DayakDaily
