KUCHING, June 28: A bus heading towards Kuching from Sibu literally ran into trouble when smoke emitted from the vehicle at Jalan Kwong Ming, Sarikei on Sunday morning.

All the 12 passengers and the bus driver are reported to be safe and not injured when the incident happened.

The incident happened at 9.53 am when the Malaysia Emergency Response Services (MERS) received an emergency call and the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba)  together with the Emergency Medical Retrieval Service (ERMS) team went to the scene.

According to the Bomba report, the bus had suffered a technical problem at one of the front tyre’s brake system, causing smoke to emit from it. The driver immediately used a fire extinguisher to prevent any untoward incident from happening.

The Bomba team which reached the scene later had also sprayed water at the tyre to ensure everything was under control. The operation ended at 10.21 am.-DayakDaily
