KOTA SAMARAHAN, Dec 16: The construction of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sri Samarahan and the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) Teaching Hospital is progressing as scheduled.

According to a report by TVS, Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof expressed satisfaction with the school’s construction but raised concerns about safety in its implementation.

“I would like to understand in detail the design and implementation of the project, especially concerning safety for the teachers and students, as the pedestrian pathways connecting the buildings need to be addressed.

“I’m concerned whether the roofs will be sufficient to provide protection. If it rains heavily, the area could be exposed, causing water accumulation and discomfort, which could endanger the safety of the teachers and students,” he said after visiting the construction site of the UNIMAS Teaching Hospital yesterday (Dec 15).

On the hospital project, Fadillah stated that 52 per cent of the construction had been completed and stressed the importance of incorporating feedback from the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) and UNIMAS, as end users, in project evaluations and reporting.

He proposed a stakeholder meeting to address any issues in the project and ensure appropriate solutions are implemented. –DayakDaily
