For the past 16 years, this mission school has been organising this annual event to recognise their excellent students in academic and spots. Even with the Covid-19 pandemic, the Annual Speech Day was far from being cancelled but the school opted to go online and organised a virtual event. This came to be known as the 1st Virtual Speech Day.

The 2-hour live session of the Speech Day yesterday was done under the new normal and the school expected it to be an annual affair after this.

Principal, David Teo claimed that the live session was the first in the region. It enabled its 1,300 students to watch it at the comfort of their home.

“This is a new normal for us for 2020 and beyond,” he said.

Speaking at the live session, he said under normal circumstances, the Speech Day would take place in early November. before the school holiday.

But it was not possible as the pandemic worsened.

“In 2020, despite the Pandemic Covid 19, the school continues to excel well in co-curricular activities at the state, national and international levels. All competitions after March 2020 were conducted online,” he said.

Executive chairman of HCK Group, Tan Sri Clement Hii who has been the patron for the Speech Day, was the main figure at the live session with zoom conferencing.

He delivered an inspiring speech on the way of life under the new normal. He had also answered questions from six students and two teachers on career and business.
