KUCHING, March 8: Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei handed out flowers to women at Petanak Market here today in conjunction with International Women’s Day.
According to a publicity release, it was a harmonious and fulfilling walkabout at the market as Wong’s team also set up a counter to help the community register for the Bantuan Sara Hidup (BSH) programme.
Not only did Wong present flowers to women but he also reached out to some of those who needed his assistance with their respective problems.
According to Wong, the federal government focuses on implementing policies that benefit women and children as well as the underprivileged.
For instance, he said the government would transfer the aid to female recipients’ accounts under the BSH programme.
He added that this was the government’s way of recognising the contribution of women towards family and social development in the country. — DayakDaily
