KUCHING, July 3: Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) is opening up its Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) in various parts of Sarawak to needful university students without any charges starting July 6.
General Manager of SMA Dr. Zaidi Razak stated that SMAās initiative in giving free access to university students wSs to ensure they have reliable and fast internet, on top of a conducive work environment to do their assignments during the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) period.
Dr. Zaidi, in his press release today, also stated that free access to the DIHs in Kuching, Sarikei, Bintulu and Miri were on a first come, first serve basis to ensure proper implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
In stating this, he added that university students were encouraged to obtain more information beforehand by contacting the operators of the DIHs in their local areas.
Apart from Kuching, Sarikei, Bintulu and Miri, there are DIH in other divisions of Sarawak that are still under development and are expected to be fully operational by September in 2021.
Meanwhile, Dr. Zaidi also pointed out that DIH is part of the Sarawak Digital Economy Strategy 2018-2022 initiated by Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
āSince its inception, SMA has developed the Sarawak Digital Village Ecosystem (SDVE) which encompasses an ecosystem with robust training programs and a network of partners across Sarawak such as Tegas (Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak), SMG (Sarawak Media Group) and iCube.
