SM Citizen in Sibu catches fire, no casualty reported

SIBU, Oct 23: A building of SM Citizen was 70 per cent destroyed by a fire which broke out at about 7.30am today.

State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) in a report said they received a distress call at 7.40am concerning a fire at SM Citizen.

Bomba said 15 firemen from Sibu Central fire station were immediately dispatched to the scene.  They managed to control the flame at 8.15am but the damaged was already done.

The first floor of the building housed a living quarters for 20 persons comprising a teacher and his two children, eight male students and nine female students.

The department added that the ground floor included a canteen and a storeroom.

No casualty was reported. —DayakDaily
