SKAS aid reaches over 750,000 recipients, with RM464.5 mln to be distributed

KUCHING, May 21: As of May 13, 2025, a total of 758,483 eligible individuals out of 886,288 have received the Sarawak Basic Needs Assistance (SKAS) since its official launch on February 18, 2025.

Second Minister for Finance and New Economy, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, shared that the number of those who have received the aid constitutes 85 per cent of the total eligible, with an RM464.5 million to be distributed.

Within the 886,288 who are eligible, 410,529 are from the household category, 361,295 are from the single category, and 114,464 are from the senior category.

Out of the 758,483 recipients, 387,260 are from the household category, 287,058 are from the single category, and 84,165 are from the senior category.

Uggah shared that for the household category, a total of 410,529 recipients are set to receive SKAS aid worth RM800, totalling RM328.4 million. Whereas for the single category with a total of 361,295 eligible to receive an RM250, is worth RM90.3 million, while the senior citizen category involving 114,464 recipients with an assistance value of RM450 has a financial implication of RM45.8 million.

“To ensure that the aid is fully channelled to the eligible recipients, the Sarawak government will continuously assist the SKAS recipients in activating their respective S Pay Global (accounts),” said Uggah in response to the questions raised by the Tellian assemblyman, Royston Valentine, during the question-and-answer (Q&A) session at the Sarawak Legislature sitting here today.

In the meantime, Uggah encouraged users to reach out to S Pay customer service or get assistance from the service centres and district offices within their respective areas. –DayakDaily
