SK Ulu Yong school dormitory razed in midnight fire

KUCHING, Aug 13: Students safely escaped a blaze which burned down their dormitory in SK Ulu Yong last night.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation center in a statement said they received the emergency call regarding the incident at 11.39 pm on Wednesday night, and a team of 12 firefighters from BBP Kapit led by PpgB Erwandy Tugor, was rushed to the location.

“The operation commander reported that one block of the students’ dormitory was completely destroyed in the incident, including the teachers’ quarters.


“However, a total of 10 students who are living in the dormitory managed to come out to safety from the burning structure,” it said in the statement.

Firefighters managed to save two units of the teachers’ quarters three meters away from the burning building, and the operation ended at 2.40 am.—DayakDaily
