KUCHING, Aug 13: The construction of 12 motorcycle sheds, each housing five motorcycle bays at the Kuching Council’s Housing Estate (KMC Flats) starts today.

This RM200,000 project is targeted to be complete in 10 weeks’ time, some time around October before the monsoon season hits Sarawak, says Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.

“There’s no proper place here for the 532 residents to park their motorcycles. They usually just park in front of the compound,” he said when officiating the project in front of Sebuyau block of KMC Flats this morning.

He stated that the specific locations of the 12 motorcycle sheds have already been identified by the contractor and the building will start later this afternoon.

Meanwhile, he also gave away several approved Kenyalang Gold Cards (KGC) to applicants in the area which MBKS helped residents to apply for.

MBKS also gave out free face masks sponsored by Kuching Team Dynamic, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) which has been helping and serving the community in Kuching for a good cause.—DayakDaily
