TEBEDU, April 22: A total of 37 students from SK Sungan including 44 families from Kampung Sungan have been swabbed for Covid-19 during an active case detection (ACD) operation held yesterday (April 21).
According to a report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the ACD operation will be conducted until May 4 to ensure all individuals who have had close contact with Covid-19 positive cases can be traced.
All those who have undergone swab tests were also required to be quarantined with wristbands given.
A road block has also been set up at the junction leading to the village to restrict the movement of people for the next 14 days.
Meanwhile, State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) reported a new cluster dubbed Duranda Emas Cluster in Serian with 19 cases.
As of yesterday, a total of 75 individuals have been screened, whereby 44 tested negative and 12 are still awaiting their lab test results.
Minister for Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian had mentioned in a Facebook post that even though there were a few clusters emerging in Serian District, they were linked to cases from Siburan.
As Siburan is located in between Serian and Kuching, he has called for all Sarawakians especially Kuchingnites to be on high alert and do not disregard advice from the health authorities to follow standard operating procedures (SOP) in order to curb the spread of the virus. ā DayakDaily
