KUCHING, Aug 3: The dilapidated school hall at SK Mejar Jeneral Dato Ibrahim, Kem Semenggo has been upgraded under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2025 with an allocation of RM300,000.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, together with officers from the Public Works Department (JKR), conducted the final inspection and official handover of the completed project today.
The project, known as “Menaiktaraf SK Mejar Jeneral Dato Ibrahim Kem Semenggo Fasa 2”, involved repair and upgrading works to restore the condition of the school hall and provide a safer and more conducive space for school assemblies, co-curricular activities, sports programmes and other school functions.
Yap expressed his appreciation to JKR, the contractor and the school management for their cooperation in ensuring the project was completed according to the required standards.
“A school hall is more than just a building. It is a vital space where students gather, learn important values, participate in activities and build lifelong memories.
“By upgrading and repairing this ageing hall, we are investing in the well-being and development of our children while providing teachers and the school community with a better facility to carry out educational and co-curricular programmes,” he said.
He said the completion of the project reflected the Sarawak government’s continued commitment towards improving public infrastructure and ensuring schools are equipped with safe and functional facilities for students and educators.
During the visit, Yap also presented a Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant of RM10,000 to the school to support educational, co-curricular and student development activities.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with schools, government agencies and the local community to improve educational infrastructure and support initiatives benefiting students.
Yap also thanked the Sarawak government under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for its continued investment in education and community development through initiatives such as RTP and MRP. — DayakDaily
