KUCHING, July 25: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap has allocated RM7,000 to trim large trees near SK Laksamana that pose a danger to the school’s fraternity.
According to a press release issued today, SK Laksamana’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) had earlier informed Yap that there were several big and old trees with lots of protruding branches that were a hazard due to its proximity to the school building and electrical wires.
“Due to the potential danger posed by these large trees to students and parents, teachers and visitors, the PTA has requested YB Wilfred Yap for financial assistance of RM7,000 to chop and trim the trees,” it said.
Additionally, Yap was also requested to provide financial assistance of RM8,000 to upgrade and repair the fans, lighting and air conditioners in some of the classrooms as they were not in working condition and the uncertain hot weather was causing discomfort for the special needs students to study.
Following the requests, Yap has handed over a total allocation of RM15,000 under his Minor Rural Project (MRP) funding for Kota Sentosa to SK Laksamana’s PTA during a simple ceremony held here today.
Also present were SK Laksamana’s PTA chairman Boniface Lembang Jingai, Penghulu Lai Boon Khee, Kapitan Chai Yong Liang and Kapitan Boon Voon Min. — DayakDaily
