MIRI, April 10: Six traffic gardens across Sarawak will be upgraded under Ministry of Transport Sarawak this year as part of the ministry’s plan to revive traffic games and promote road safety among school children.

In disclosing this earlier today after visiting Miri Traffic Garden at Taman Bulatan, Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said they hope to carry out the upgrades within this year.

“These traffic gardens are in Kuching, Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Sarikei and Sri Aman…and I will be visiting Bintulu tomorrow (Tuesday) to inspect its condition,” he told reporters when met.

The upgrading work would involve local authorities in each of the affected divisions.

The last Traffic Games hosted at Miri Traffic Garden by Shell Malaysia was in 2014.

“For this time around, we would approach oil and gas companies such as Petros (Petroleum Sarawak Berhad), Petronas (Petroliam Nasional Berhad) or (energy company) Sarawak Energy Berhad to collaborate with us to organise traffic games,” he said.
