SARIKEI, May 18: Six persons, including a woman, have been arrested for breaching the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) by entertaining themselves in a pub on Sunday night.
Sarikei District police chief, DSP Awang Arfian Awang Bujang said at about 8.45 pm a team of policemen on MCO enforcement duty raided a karaoke, pub and lounge centre in town.
“The team found the six persons of five men and a woman deeply engrossed in a karaoke session,” he said.
The suspects aged between 18 to 50 were later detained for investigation under Regulation 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) 2020.
They were also detained under Section 269 of the Penal Code for unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which they know or have reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life.
DSP Awang said the owner of the centre was also arrested under Section 5 (2) of the Entertainment Ordinance 2001 for operating it without a licence. – DayakDaily
