MARUDI, April 6: A fire destroyed a double-storey house in Kampung Narum Hilir here last night, leaving six people from a family with just the clothes on their backs.
In a statement, Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operations Centre (PGO) said it received a distress call regarding the fire at 6.31pm.
Eight firefighters from the Marudi fire station were deployed and upon arrival at the scene, discovered that a semi-permanent double-storey house was completely engulfed in flames.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson from Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) disclosed that the house belonged to one of its personnel.
Also damaged in the incident was a Yamaha 15 horse power outboard engine belonging to Miri APM.
All occupants managed to save themselves without sustaining any injuries.
Currently, they are staying at a relative’s house. — DayakDaily
