Six active clusters including Long Urun and Bungey 2 report 23 new Covid-19 cases today

KUCHING, Oct 6: Six active clusters in Sarawak continued to record new Covid-19 cases including Belaga’s Long Urun longhouse cluster and Betong’s Bungey 2 wedding cluster, which added 10 and four new cases respectively.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its daily update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak today, reported that the six active clusters have contributed a total of 23 cases to today’s caseload of 1,503.

The other four clusters that recorded new infections are the Opar Cluster which added five more cases, Tembok Limbang Cluster which added two cases, while the Kampung Segedup Cluster and Sibuluh-Nowang Cluster added one case each.


SDMC has also declared the end of the Lemujan Cluster in Pakan, after no new local cases were reported in the past 28 days.

With that, the number of Covid-19 active clusters in Sarawak has decreased to 93.

As of yesterday (Oct 5), there are a total of 27,453 active cases in Sarawak, out of which 22,688 or 82.6 per cent are under home quarantine.

A total of 3,613 or 13.2 per cent in Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centres (PKRCs), 1,043 patients (3.8 per cent) are hospitalised, 66 patients (0.2 per cent) are in intensive unit care (ICU) unventilated and 43 patients (0.2 per cent) are in ICU requiring ventilator support. — DayakDaily
