KUCHING, Oct 1: The two-night Siniawan Country Music Festival 2019, taking place this weekend (Oct 4-5), is expecting a record number of festival goers surpassing the 15,000 mark.

Festival advisor Miro Simuh said one of the objectives of the festival is to highlight the rich historical heritage of Siniawan and its surrounding areas.

On top of this, the festival, which is drawn from the famous Octoberfest in Germany, is all about good food, good drinks, good music and good ambience for all, he said.

“The festival, into its fourth edition this year, will feature 12 performers who will entertain the crowd over two consecutive nights. The performers are from Kuching, Miri, Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Singapore.

“Our target this year is to have the biggest crowd, when compared to the three previous editions. Last year, we recorded around 15,000 visitors,” he told DayakDaily here today.

With no other notable events around the city at the time, he expressed hope that more people will come to celebrate the country music festival at Siniawan.

Miro, who is also Serembu assemblyman, said food would be aplenty and there will be stalls, which caters for Muslim food.

“Sarawak is very unique, where everyone can enjoy themselves (together) regardless of race and religion,” he said, adding that the theme for this year’s festival is “Wild, Wild West”, which is based on cowboys and cowgirls themed costumes. — DayakDaily
